Haitian Earthquake Response – Jacksonville, Florida - Spring 2010
The recent earthquake in Haiti left this area in huge need of relief response.  Working in conjunction with Mission Harvest America (www.missionngo.com),  a 7-person team from CVC went to Jacksonville for one week.  While there, the team assembled simple water purification systems, which allow a family to generate fresh water for one year.  The team’s work then turned to loading / preparing shipments of “Buckets of Hope”, 5-gallon pails filled with enough food supplies to sustain a family of 4 for a week.  Churches all across then U.S. have assembled and shipped over 105,000 Buckets of Hope to the Mission Harvest warehouse in Jacksonville.  Forty-five thousand of these buckets have already been shipped to Haiti, with another sixty thousand in process to ship.
Team members were:  Robin Hudson, Gregg Jacobsen, Heather Olson, Jane Rutti, Armand Steigert, Sue Wagner, and Jim Ziebert.

Appalachia Mission Team – Update
From July 15-18, a team from CVC ministered to the people in the Appalachian region. The following is an update from Jackie Tuckerman about their trip: “Our family trip began in a half way house for drug addicted young men.  These men shared their struggles and their growing faith in God with our group as we worked alongside of them.  We spent some time in the little coal mining town of Keystone which is overwhelmed with needs: poverty, teen pregnancy, abused kids in the Miller Home, battered woman in the safe house shelter, and churches with too few members to keep their doors open.  But we were reminded of the hope that we came to share with them.  Through the basketball camp, our purity program for teen girls, and “Kidsfest”, we saw many of our plans fade and God’s plans take shape before us!  The trip was ended with a “Gospel Night” where we sang from the bottom of our hearts with those that we only knew in-Christ.  Some of our kids did a skit to show the struggles of this world and the hope and freedom that comes when we finally surrender all to God. Through the kids’ prayer and devotion as a group, they were able to touch many lives, including their own.”
Team Members were: The Balhorn Family, Sandy & Bernadette Blask, Rene & Bev Boucher, The Case Family, Doug Delfeld, Carlos Delvalle, Shari Green, Lisa Hill & Cristopher Rivera, Ernie & Daniel Hollo, The Jacobsen Family, The Kowalski Family, The Lucas Family, The Luce Family, Jeff & John Pellizzari &  Laurie Clugh, The Perozeni Family, Ruth Pollack, Nick & Deb Sparks, The Tuckerman Family, Edna Wells, and Penny & Collin Wiley
