We’ve been learning what it means to have genuine faith, or to live as people who the Apostle Peter referred to as, “Elect Exiles”. God’s people are pilgrims, sojourners, exiles on earth. Part of living new in Christ is realizing that your home is not really your home. Our true home is in heaven with the Lord. That means we see everything differently than those who only see earth as their home. We see time, relationships, work, even suffering, differently. We also see money and earthly resources differently. As people who live to worship God with all we are and all we have, we recognize God as our Creator and generous Provider. A genuine faith in Christ results in genuine generosity for Christ. Reflecting on God’s incredible generosity leads us to grow in faithful generosity in our own lives. We become more about giving than taking. We become investors in eternity rather than consumers of the earthly. We are enlightened to the fact that we are managers not owners of all that God has generously blessed us with. Understanding God’s faithful generosity to us activates a faith-filled generosity from us. “Genuine Generosity”, a new teaching series at Cuyahoga Valley Church, begins 3.27.22.
