We know that music is very subjective and can even be divisive. These songs, however, are scripture…word-for-word. So, if you listen consistently, your family will be memorizing Bible verses before you know it.
Our favorite Bible storybook for preschoolers is The Beginner’s Bible, but if you find yourself looking for something a bit simpler for your toddler, the Read and Share Toddler Bible is our recommendation.

FLY HIGH: UNDERSTANDING GRIEF WITH GOD’S HELP
Michelle Medlock Adams and Janet K. Johnson
Beth Snider
In this gorgeously illustrated picture book, a mother helps her two children deal with grief when they discover an injured mama bird who later dies. They are sad and angry, while also worried about the three baby birds she left behind. The storyline leads you to walk through the grieving process with the child characters in the book, putting words to the emotions that they are feeling. Each page has a section with godly wisdom, along with questions to ask that personalize the material for your child. Even though the mama bird dies, there is a sense of hope throughout, and the baby birds survive in the end.
*Please note that there are two versions of this book. Be sure to get the one that has the tag line “Understanding Grief with God’s Help,” or you will be missing out on the Scripture references and biblical wisdom.
THE MOON IS ALWAYS ROUND
Jonathan Gibson
Joe Hox
No matter what shape the moon appears in the sky, the moon is actually always round. In the same way, no matter our perspective of God, He is always good. Even when it’s hard to see God’s goodness, it’s still there. This picture book tells the story of a boy, his father, and his mother, who is expecting a new baby. As they prepare for the baby, they also talk about the different shapes of the moon. They remind each other that the moon is always round. Then, the baby dies. Even though, they don’t understand why, the family does understand that God is always good like the moon is always round. At the end of the book there is a section for grownups, which includes the story behind the book, lessons for children on both the moon and Good Friday, and a catechism on the moon. This book would work well with preschoolers, elementary-aged children, or even teenagers.
